Every child with a disability will have the opportunity to become fully functional. Each family with an ASD child will have resources available to them in order to make educated and informed decisions. Professionals, related to the field of autism, will be an integral part of the Centre through the provision of their ideas and expertise, while the Centre will provide support for their professional and personal growth.
Mission
The Autism Centre of Canada will make a significant improvement in the lives of children with autism and other developmental disabilities. As a central access point, we will offer information, resources, assistance and training for families with children diagnosed with ASD and other developmental disabilities, and to professionals in the field.
Principles
-The Autism Centre of Canada supports a child-centred approach to children with autism.
-We believe that the healthy bond between child and parents is essential to child development and is fundamental to any therapy, which may be considered.
-As the capabilities of children with autism are often limited by the judgments of others, we can assist them best by our own openness to each of them as a unique individual and by a positive approach to life and its possibilities.
-The Autism Centre of Canada will not bias access to resources and its facility based on race, culture or degree of diagnosis. As much as possible, this centre will do its best to provide access.
-The Autism Centre of Canada believes in a evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach to Autism.
-All forms of therapy suggested and/or offered by the Autism Centre of Canada will be open for discussion and evaluation by those families who are using them.
